Bought this for my wife now she goes up hills faster than I can. Well made bike, just a few issues: The bike shop did NOT lube the chain prior to sale. There is no chain tensioner, so when the rear wheel is removed it more difficult the tension the chain than if a tensioner were provided. The tires were "Fat Franks" but should be the better Big Apple Plus for added puncture protection as you will NOT want to have to change a rear tire on the road as it is much more complicated than a regular bike. (Must remove two cables, feral and brake arm and the chain) Be sure to have the shop show you how to remove the rear wheel and have the needed tools along.

This bike has made it possible for me to go on long bike rides with my husband and keep up the pace on hills. Now we can spend weekends riding for 12-20 miles with no problems. I am 5'3" and I can get on and off the bike without problems (I have tried other ebikes which weren't low enough) I totally recommend this bike for a healthier life and fun in the outdoors.
Pros
- Makes Riding Fun
- Very Comfortable
- Makes Hills Flat
Cons
- Expensive
Best Uses

Comments:
I am a short (5'7") 59 year old male and bought the black with cream tires version of the "girls" bike and love it. Very easy to get on and no issues being able to get feet fully on the ground. The electric assists really makes riding fun and practical again. Have taken it on several hundred miles of old railroads converted to trails and of course some normal on road use. You don't have to worry about killing your knees or not being able to get up a hill. Really can not say enough nice thinks about this E bike or Burt's Bikes in Henrietta NY where I bought it.
Comments:
I've owned a lot of bikes, but this Electra e-assist bike is by far, my most favorite of them all, including my recumbent bike. Not only is it a great looking bike and very well built, but it is a blast to ride. I don't hesitate to go wherever I want as sometimes I will judge a ride on how difficult the hills will be, especially on the ride home. With the electric assist no hill is too hard to climb, especially when you have bad knees. It's also a comfortable bike to ride (leather saddle seat) and I especially like that the bike is equipped with great features such as matching fenders, front and rear LED lighting, chain guard, frame lock and rear rack. One thing missing is a bottle cage but I added a rear rack trunk bag and keep my water in that. I was very lucky to get the azure-colored bike as it is difficult to find right now. I bought my bike from the Hollywood Bike Gallery and had an excellent buying experience from them, along with great service from their Service/Maintenance Dept. I highly recommend this bike to anyone who wants the extra help from the electric assist. I couldn't be happier with my purchase of this bike.
Pros
- Easy To Get On And Off
- Flat Footed Standing
Cons
- A Little Expensive
Best Uses
- Will Be Riding To Work
Comments:
I got a totally different bike and it was just too tall for me. Afraid I would fall starting and stopping. Found out about the Townie and fell in love. Test rode one and that was it. Ordered the Ebony and it will be here this week. The feature I love the most is that you can be flat footed and stand up on it. No fears of falling on this bike. Of course the hill assists will be a great benefit.
